10 members of JB Taekwondo competed in today's Victorian Selection Championships forming our largest Poomsae contingent in recent history. The team contested 16 divisions bringing home 3 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze. Congratulations to everyone who participated, 5 of whom were competing for the first time.

Ben and Master Burai have recently returned from Korea where they attended a series of competitions and seminars. Master Burai won a Gold Medal at the Muju competition whilst Ben took home the Bronze. Ben also won a Silver Medal at the Chuncheon Open.

11 members of JB Taekwondo attended a seminar with Grandmaster Kim (9th Dan) held at Schembri's Taekwondo in Bundoora. The seminar covered basic techniques, training drills and patternwork.

Gold Rush: Master Julius Burai and Assistant Instructor Jensen Lai joined members of Koryo, Trainors and Gisborne Taekwondo at the 2011 Taekwondo New Zealand Open held in Auckland on 26th and 27th March. The 10 member team brought home 30 medals in total; 20 Gold, 8 Silver and 2 Bronze.

The Victorian Poomsae team has recently returned from Austin, Texas where they won 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 6 Bronze at the 2011 US Open Team. Jensen Lai from JB combined with members of MTC to win Bronze in the Male 1st Teams Division.

This year 4 students from JB Taekwondo competed at the National Taekwondo Championships in Canberra. The final medal count was 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze. Frank, Zac, Ben and Jensen each won medals in their respective divisions for Individual Traditional Poomsae. Jensen then stole the show with a Gold Medal performance in Individual Creative Poomsae.

This year the State Poomsae Championships were held over 2 weeks. JB Students entered in a total of 8 individual, 1 pair and 2 team events resulting in 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.

Several members of JB Taekwondo trained with Grandmaster Ky-Tu Dang this week. Workshops covered sparring, poomsae and self defence. Of most interest was Grandmaster Dang's perspectives on the application of Poomsae techniques.

After a week of gradings the Senior Students of JB Taekwondo went out for dinner at Zagame's in Boronia. One student even attempted the Seafood Platter.

2010 Grading dates for JB Taekwondo have now been published on the Calendar page. At this stage, a social event is planned for the final Saturday night of each grading period. Club championships for Poomsae and Sparring will be arranged pending confirmation of TKD Victoria events.

JB Taekwondo has claimed 7 medals at the recent National Championships in Brisbane. Lynda, Nerolie and Ben won Gold in Individual Traditional while Frank and Jensen won Silver. Nerolie also won Gold in Team Traditional while Jensen and Ben combined to win Silver in the Pairs Creative. Zac Levitt came 4th in a highly contested blue belt division.

Zac Levitt claimed Silver in today's Junior Poomsae Championships. He has sinced joined the Victorian team and will compete in Brisbane later this year alongside 5 of the senior members of JB Taekwondo.

7 Members of JB Taekwondo competed at today's Victorian Technical Selection Championships. Collectively they entered a total of 13 different events including traditional individual poomsae, creative poomsae, teams and pairs. Together they won 5 Gold and 7 Silver medals. Well done to everyone who competed, especially those entering for the first time. Results aside, it was great to see everyone giving it a go and supporting each other as a team.

Black Belt gradings for Winter 2009 have now been completed. From the Boronia Branch, Ryan Saultry obtained his black belt while Jensen and Ben both graded up to 3rd Dan. At the Frankston branch, Nikki achieved her black belt while Luke was promoted to 2nd Dan.

Master Cho ran a technical seminar and judging course for Victorian black belts. Over 50 black belts attended the morning seminar including Jensen, Ben, Gary and Jeff from JB Taekwondo. Master Burai assisted Masters Cho, Wood and Butterworth in running the seminar and judging course.

The JB Taekwondo Poomsae Championships were held today at Genisis. Competitors were split into 10 division, with Junior and Senior divisions for Yellow, Blue, Red and Black belts and Teenage divisions for Red and White belts.

JB Taekwondo has claimed 5 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals at the recent Victorian Muye Championships. Ben, Jensen and Nerolie combined to win Gold in the Team Creative Poomsae division. They each went on to claim Gold in traditional individual poomsae in divisions 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
Meanwhile Jeff won Gold in individual technical breaking with a total of 8 boards.
